Telapak stands as the first NGO (Non-Governmental Organization) since 1997 which implements international FSC-certification on sustainable-forest community in Southeast Asia Region and the first NGO which first-popularized the phrase “illegal logging” nationally in the early 2000.

Telapak encompasses the association of NGO activists, business practitioners, academics, media affiliates, and leaders of indigenous peoples, as well as local communities of fishermen and farmers across Indonesia which move towards sustainability, sovereignty, and integrity in natural-resource management.

Telapak sustains its activities through cooperatives establishment and several breakthrough programs encircling organic agriculture, sustainable fisheries and forestry, ecotourism, and renewable energy.

The word Telapak philosophically signifies the footprints marked as a real embodiment of the nature advancement transitioned from a forest and ecosystem in particular towards sustainable livelihoods in general.
